. . . . .
Abstraction is the substance of the things I hope for and the evidence of things I can’t see.
- My Hebrews 11:1
My practice relies heavily on experimentation and the ability to remain a student of my process. This requires vulnerability and joy to be ever-present as I develop a visual language and textural index that manifests through painting, prints, sculptures, objects and many other mediums. Convergence is a celebration of my process and the liminal space of my practice - A space created out of the personal developmental moments that occur in my studio. Often in the studio, I sit with and embrace the vastness of color, texture, and Blackness while simultaneously embracing the vastness of myself. Through this transcendental experience and a continuous study of hair and color theory, my practice has become biographical. It answers a personal call to unearth myself as I approach my process with the intention of spiritual exchange.

Another recap of the opening at @johnsonlowegallery last friday. I tried to piece together something because I didnt really take any pictures 😂😂😂 The vibes were all through the place. So wonderful to see so many new and familiar faces. If you’re in Atlanta, make sure you go see the show!!! 🖤🖤🖤

I never create the same exact painting twice and I wanted that to remain true for my prints.
Intaglio was the perfect process for these prints. By turning my paintings into plates, I was able to emboss their textures into the paper and choose a more non-traditional form of color application once I got the hang of the process.
I have a set of monoprints available on my website RIGHT NOW!

Surprise!
PRINT RELEASE!!!
I’ve been holding on to these for almost 2 years and this series of prints was definitely the beginning of where you all see me heading now. Many thoughts about portals, the metaphysical and rectifying the histories of spaces on my ancestors behalf. I am so happy to finally share these. There’s only 10 prints from this series and each looks completely different from the next. If you’ve been wanting to collect my work, this is a perfect opportunity. Follow the link in my bio!

I had the opportunity to work with @speckx and @brett_taylor_prints during a residency at @chq.art to learn more about the process of printmaking and how it could come into my practice. I focused heavily on the act of pressing and how it relates to hair as my subject matter. I turned my paintings into plates and learned the process of intaglio as way to apply my color choices. This process allowed me to really see and experience my work in a new way. I am so happy to finally be sharing a part of that experience with you all.
I am preparing to begin install for my upcoming solo exhibition @belmontu in Nashville, TN titled Convergence: A Personal Investigation of Color, Texture and Identity. This exhibition is all about my process and the experimentation that takes place. I’m excited to share just how expansive my practice is through this exhibition. The exhibition opens March 13th and I’ll be sharing more about that soon!
But for now, don’t miss this opportunity to collect my work!!! && for all the faithful afterpay folks like me….I got yall too. 😇😇😇 LOVE YALL!! 💖
